Teaser Tuesdays

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your tease

“You.”  The single syllable rumbled from his throat like a growl.  It echoed in the emptiness, replete with undeniable menace.

From Every Trick in the Book by Lucy Arlington.  This is the 2nd book int he Novel Idea Mystery series.

Walking and Wine….

Tonight’s wine for relaxing after my walk, Middle Sister’s Forever Cool.  My daughter didn’t care for it so I guess I’ll have to finish it off myself.  The walk was great tonight, cool with a little breeze.  I am going to try to start running again tomorrow.  I made an attempt about a week ago and survived so I think my heels have recovered enough from the plantar fascitis to hit the track.  Decided on a plan of attack for reading this week.  Finish off all my other library books so I can return them and dive into Stephen Kings doorstop – Under the Dome.

Going to BEA was a great experience and I came home with great books to read and I will probably write about them here. I  I will say that I was surprised about the heavy emphasis on YA fiction.   It is not a genre I generally read but I did recently read a couple of Marcus Sedgwick’s books on another blogger;s recommendation, so I picked up a couple more today.  The book in my stack that  I am most looking forward to is The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriary.  I may have to put aside my current read and dive into it.

This is my entry:

Like a guy who’d just been whacked over the head with a baseball bat, Nev’s eyes were fixed, and his expression was dumbfounded.  He set his phone on the table, shook himself out of a stupor, and looked at me.

This is from Hot Button by Kylie Logan.  It is the second book this series.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

The It’s Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted at Book Journey

Today I am reading:

This is the second book in a series.  The first was A Sheetcake Named Desire which I read here.  I liked the first one so I am looking forward to reading this book in the series.

Showcase Sunday

Visited my new favorite bookshop on Saturday:  Booktrader  of Hamilton.

Picked up the following:

135430599656651 1302993 13187058 454953 1302993 356943 8857

Pretty good haul of cozies.  I just have to go through the Mrs. Malory series to see the order of the books.  I already read the MC Beaton book but one of my book clubs is reading it for June so I will reread.    Happy reading everyone!

“Winter is Coming”

“Winter is nature’s way of saying, “Up yours.”
― Robert Byrne

or as my grandmother used to say, “It’s cold as a witch’s tit.”  What is up with this?   Helloooo,  Mother Nature,  it is May,  May 25th, you know barbecue, open the pool, all that good stuff?  Definitely not – huddle in my recliner with a comforter and a bottle of wine, (today it is Jersey Red for those of you are interested) time.

Good points though:

  •  Mowed the lawn without breaking a sweat, wearing a sweatshirt at that.
  • Went to Booktrader of Hamilton and found several of my TBR books.
  • Three day weekend.
  • There is wine.

So, with that in mind, guess I’ll be reading and drinking this evening.

Keep warm everyone, just remember “Winter   Summer is Coming.”
