Thursday 13

This is a new-to-me meme, I have read about it in other blogs but this is my first time participating.  It is currently hosted here.  Basically just pick a theme and 13 things to go with it.

Mine is books to read next:

In no particular order, I have:
Steamed to Death – Peg Cochran
Killer in Crinolines – Duffy Brown
Laced with Poison – Meg London
Arsenic and Old Cake – Jacklyn Brady
Death of a Greedy Woman – MC Beaton
South of the Border, West of the Sun – Murakami
Practically Perfect – Katie Fforde
In the Woods – Tana French
Death of a Perfect Wife – MC Beaton
Silence of the Grave – Arnaldur Indridason
Birdman – Mo Hayder
The Chessmen – Peter May
Awakening – SJ Bolton

Some of these I own and some are from the library.  I’ll probably hit library books first.  I’ve read most of MC Beaton but I read them out of order and I think I missed these couple.  What is your Thursday 13?

Welcome to Thursday 13! I hope you join us again and again.

I’m more of a Romance fan than a Mystery reader, so just about everything on your list is new to me. I’d go with the library first, too, just because there’s a deadline on those.

  2. I sometimes read romance but mystery is my go-to genre. I got hooked as kid on Nancy Drew and it has never ended.

  3. I’m going to check if my bookstore’s got Arsenic and Old Cake. The title makes me curious.

Though I’ve heard of some of these, the only thing on your list I’ve read is In the Woods, which was an okay read. Actually, I loved the book up until the last couple chapters, but that’s just me. I see you are on Goodreads–are you in the Cozy Mysteries group? Thanks for visiting!

    • My Mum said the same thing about In the Woods and then she didn’t read anything more by Tana French. I read the third book in the series for the Kindle English Mystery Club’s group read and liked it so I am starting back at the beginning with In the Woods. I am in the Cozy Mystery Corner Group on Goodreads

These are all new to me, but I enjoy mysteries. I will have to check some of these out.

    • I finished Awakening, one of the books last night. It was good but not her best,in my opinion. If you try SJ Bolton I wouldn’t start with that one. What mystery authors do you read? I’m always looking out for new ones to try.

  6. I haven’t read any of those.
I’ve been playing TT since the beginning. It started out more as 13 things about more random than themed which is how I still do it.

    • I think it is interesting to see the different ways people approach it. Makes it fun to visit the blogs. I was participating in Sunday Mornings in Bed…but I don’t think it ran last week. I also like teaser Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by!

Oh, I LOVE Murakami! Enjoy and welcome to the T13 🙂

    • I’ve never read him before but I understand that he is the most read/published in English Japanese author. There was even a Murakami read a long group among some of the blogs a while back. His book was my One Drink Minimum Book Club selection for August and I’m excited to read it.
